Silhouette Art

Hello there! Today I will be showing you how to make silhouette plaques.  They are easy to make and you can make one for each of your family members!

You will need the following supplies:
-SPC wood plaque, I like the ovals
-Elmer's Spray Adhesive
-Ceramcoat paint in Black (or whichever color you prefer)
-Painters tape
-A side profile picture

First, cut your profile picture out as precisely as you can.  It helps if you have a solid color background behind the person when their photo is taken.  Next, spray the adhesive on the back of the photo.  Let it sit for 3-5 minutes before placing on your plaque.  That way it will be removable and not permanent.  Place your photo on the plaque and rub it so that the edges aren't popping up.  You may need to use the blue tape to extend your silhouette shape to the bottom edge.  My photo was a little short.  

Again, make sure the edges of your photo and tape are firmly pressed down so that the paint doesn't bleed under.  Now you can begin to paint the plaque.  Paint right over the photo and the sides of the plaque. 

Let the paint dry before removing the photo and tape. 

You can leave it like that or dress it up a bit.  I applied Mod Podge and extra fine gold glitter to the outer edge of the plaque. 

You could also use Washi tape. rhinestones, or a different color paint to dress up the sides.  Flip it over and pound in a picture hanger and it'll be ready to put on the wall.  Now you can make one for every member of your family, even your pets!
